The Market Street Dixieland Jass Band represents New Orleans style Jazz, Ragtime, Stomps and Blues at it’s best. This aggregation of fine players features music from the early 1900’s through the 1930’s, played in the irresistable dixieland style. From Buddy Bolden and Scott Joplin, Jelly Roll Morton and Joe “King” Oliver, Bix Beiderbecke and Louis Armstrong, 1920’s torch songs and the 1940’s trad revival, these musicians bring to life the toe-tappin’, vibrant and exciting sounds of Crescent City jazz. Led by the cornetist Ansgar Duemchen, who has more than 25 years musical experience playing traditional jazz in Europe and the United States, these musicians present a class show that covers more than 50 years of American popular songs.
You just can’t stay in your chair when you listen to these gentlemen swingin’ away–though the tunes may be from the last century, the music is timeless, irresistable and fun!
