ART IN ANACORTES

Donna Nevitt-Radtke

I spent my early childhood in Seattle, then the Skagit valley, Washington. As a teenager I moved to Southern California

I have considered myself an artist for as long as I can remember, taking every opportunity to study art. I studied at Pierce College in the San Fernando Valley California, at UCLA and with Ruben martin in Santa Monica. I continually take workshops with many well-known artists each one adding to my skills.

I started an antiques import business in the 80s and returned to the Skagit valley. Going to Europe twice a year to buy antiques and helping my antique shop clients with interior design ate up most of my creative energy, but I was always painting in my head.

Eventually the need to get back to brush and canvas became to strong. I am to make time for my love of painting and have pursued that need with a passion.

My primary medium is oil, but I also paint in pastel, which is an old and exciting medium.

Many of my paintings are on deep canvas with the painting continuing on the sides. Some of these are framed in shadowbox frames.

I continually challenge myself so each painting adds to my knowledge of design, value and color.
