Anacortes artists well represented in Mount Vernon’s artwalk.

Anacortes artists were well represented in Downtown Mount Vernon’s September First Thursday’s artwalk.

Jane Alynn is showing an impressive collection of her Zone Plate photographic images at Embellish (223 S 1st). Soft, haunting images, Jane uses a Zone plate and high speed film to create a collection of alt process images influenced by the pictorialist. These dreamy lensless photographs remind me of the mid century work by Edward Steichen.

Moving down 1st to the Art Bar at The Lincoln, Lisa Payne Rhoades is showing her mixed media creations that feels like walking into one of happiest aviary art experiences you are ever going to find in downtown Mount Vernon. Her work nests itself into such as shoes, whisks, ladles and other found objects. Driven by excitement of anticipated motherhood, Lisa creates her nests into sometimes whimsical objects, celebrating our nestmaking feathered friends.
